A Round Table conference of artists and publishers of children`s magazines took place in the Central House of Artists
November 9 – A Round Table conference of artists and publishers of children`s magazines took place in the Central House of Artists. Nina Grozova, Editor in chief of “MISHA” magazine spoke about a hard destiny of the edition. She noted that in spite of all hardships the magazine has survived and maintains its circulation number (20 thousand copies) which are distributed in different regions of Russia.
E.D.Elkonovitch and A.B.Molotkov - members of the Board of Directors of “Pechatnye Traditsii” Publishing House presented a new children`s magazine “MATUSHKA” which impressed the audience by its excellent art design and very interesting content. Pages from the history of Russia are submitted for children in colourful illustrations and in playful form. The magazine will undoubtedly draw attention of young readers and their parents.
On the other hand, a sad story of “S nami Bog” (“God with us”) magazine was narrated by its editor and poetess Ecatherina Grigorieva . She stressed that in spite of a perfect art design and a necessity in this edition it cannot cope with financial difficulties.
As it was emphasized at the meeting a problem of publishing expenses has become a common headache of all publishers issuing high quality books and magazines for children. The investments unfortunately are directed mostly to publishing house producing copies of foreign editions which are far from being really of good quality. Therefore, the task of the Union of Journalists today is promoting through mass media the best traditions of domestic publishing art.
